Open your heart and home to the world! Giulia is a 17 year old girl from Italy who would LOVE to spend the 2019-2020 school year living and studying in the U.S.! Read her letter below and message me for more information!

Dear family,

I am a mixed curly-afro hair girl, half Italian and half Cuban, who lives with her mom in a tiny town in the north of Italy.

If I had to describe myself I'd say that I'm kind, friendly and sociable, because in my opinion hanging out with friends, get to know new people and maybe make new friendships is the best way of spending my free time. Even though these are my favorite kind of "hobbies", I'm not that kind of person who never stays at home, actually I almost never can hang out because of my school. It is one of the most difficult and demanding ones in my city and I have to study hardly and constantly everyday and at the end of the whole day I'm always super tired. I have to admit that I'm a bit of lazy too and I procrastinate a lot but, who doesn't?

Other adjectives that represent the real me are ambitious, creative and perfectionist. My passions are art and photography and I think that those qualities come exactly from these passions I have. In the future I'd like that photography will not just be an hobby but I would like to make it become a professional job and maybe one day work for the most notable brands or for the most renowned fashion magazines in the world. Well, from this last part of the letter you can tell that I'm a girl who likes to dream a lot too, but why losing hope?

I'm not exactly the one you can call a musician, but music is another thing I can't live without. I study, I go to the gym, I come back home from school, I'm with my friends but music, of any kind, is a must. I also go very often to concerts with my friends and I hope it will be the same when I'll be there.

My mom respects those passions I have and supports me in every decisions I make. We usually do anything together, for example we love asiatic kitchen so we often go to Japanese or Chinese restaurants, sometimes with our friends too. We're very very close and honestly I've never been so far, but mostly for so long, away from her. She helps me with all my problems: school, friendships, fights... I can tell her anything and she always gives me the best advices and I've never felt judged by her. She's a travel agent and she knows almost every single particular of any country. She used to travel a lot in the past and now she tries to travel as much as she did taking me with her, indeed last year we flew to Athens, Greece, for a four-day-long trip. I also have a real special relationship with my grandparents. They're my mom's parents and we all live in the same house but in different floors. They have taken cure of me, when my mom could not because she had to work, since I can remember. I feel so lucky to have them in my life, even though sometimes they act too much as if they were my parents. They represent the stereotype of the couple who has been married for 50 years, who argues over and over again but at the end always make up. We're almost at the end of this letter and I haven't talked about my school yet. I attend a foreign language high school where I

study four languages as German, English, Spanish, Italian, of course, and Latin for the first two years. As I've written before it's really hard getting high notes, so I must focus myself on studying and give 100%. You're now might be thinking why I choose this school. Well, first of all because in middle school I was good in English and Spanish, and all my teachers suggested it to me, and then because the school climate makes me feel like I'm part of something really big, and this makes me feel proud of the choice I've made. My lessons are from Monday to Saturday and they start everyday at 8am and end at 1pm, then I get home and after lunch I have to study like four hours straight for the next day hypothetic oral test . Obviously my favorite subjects languages but I also enjoy

Italian literature and I'm quite good in all of them.

With this exchange year I have the opportunity to make one of my biggest dream of going to the United States reality and all

thanks to you!

I can't exactly describe with words how happy, excited and grateful I actually am, but you will see in a "few" month!

Sincerely,

G
